God, thank you for setting a precedent for rest. From the very beginning you knew I would catch myself up so easily in the hustle and bustle of daily life, often over-committing myself to too many things. While you encourage drive and zeal toward fulfilling my God-given purpose, you also set the example of resting on the seventh day and calling it good. Thank you, Lord, for reminding me that inactivity can be holy too. Amen.
Genesis 2:1-3
Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
