Lord, thank you for providing people who sharpen me like iron–people who respectfully challenge my perceptions and beliefs in order for me to grow while they likewise welcome my doing the same for them. As we discuss and debate, Holy Spirit, I ask you guard our tongues. Prevent us from saying anything we shouldn’t and encourage us to speak truth in love even when it’s hard. Father, make us teachable. Train our minds to hold everything in the light of scripture and point one another to your Word. Help us humbly let go of the errors in our ways and adopt your vision. Lead us to those you would use to make us wiser. Amen.
