Fulfilling My Oath

Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.

Omnipotent God, how often do I forget the weight of the commitment I made to you? When I accepted you as my Lord and Savior, I pledged myself to your service, to the lifelong work of loving you as you deserve to be loved, and to the pursuit of righteousness for your glory. I confess to you that I do not take that pledge as seriously as I should. God, I come to you with faith in your mercy. Please forgive me for neglecting you, for not always holding you in first place in my heart and habits. Revive my passion for you that I would rejoice in my oath. Remind me of the love I had for you at first and lead my heart through joyful repentance. Amen.

2 Chronicles 15:12-15

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, with all their heart and soul. All who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, were to be put to death, whether small or great, man or woman. They took an oath to the Lord with loud acclamation, with shouting and with trumpets and horns. All Judah rejoiced about the oath because they had sworn it wholeheartedly.
