Playing Savior

Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.

Lord, sometimes I need reminding that I can’t be my own savior. I do not have as much control over things or even myself as I want to believe I have. I need reminders of your sovereignty and the love with which you wield that sovereignty. When I inevitably get myself into trouble by attempting to play your role, you are faithful to forgive and guide me in repentance. You show me not only mercy but honor. Thank you, Holy God, for your lovingkindness and relieving me of the debt and responsibility that Jesus took upon himself in my stead. Please help me respect and celebrate your authority over all things. Amen.

Psalm 91:14-16

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;

I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

He will call on me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble,

I will deliver him and honor him.

With long life I will satisfy him

and show him my salvation.”
