Prayers of Silence

Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.

Lord, how should I pray when my mind goes blank? When I’ve reached the end my rope and haven’t the energy to concentrate on forming words? You compassionately invite me to listen. To be still and know in my inmost being the simple yet overpowering truth that you are God. Your Holy Spirit plumbs the depths of my silently pleading heart. You hear me and understand me from the inside out. Thank you, good Father, for your ever-bent ear attuned to what I cannot express. Amen.

Psalm 139:1-6

You have searched me, Lord,

and you know me.

You know when I sit and when I rise;

you perceive my thoughts from afar.

You discern my going out and my lying down;

you are familiar with all my ways.

Before a word is on my tongue

you, Lord, know it completely.

You hem me in behind and before,

and you lay your hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,

too lofty for me to attain.
