The Mercy of Obedience

Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.

Thank you, God, that love and obedience are not dependent upon emotion. No matter how I’m feeling or the content of my doubts, I can rest assured in the guidance I find in obeying you. What you ask of me is always for my good. The requirements of your law and statues all come down to love. Thank you, gracious Lord, for your mercy and grace extended even into what little you ask of me. Amen.

1 John 5:2-4

This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
