All or Nothing

Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.

Holy God, I regret to confess how often I need reminding that partial obedience is disobedience. There are no degrees of holiness or faithfulness to your divine calling on my life. I either love and serve you with my entire heart, mind, and strength, or I am putting some form of idol above you. I do not get to cherry pick which of your perfect commands or teachings suit me. The path to true oneness and eternal joy is straight and narrow; any deviation brings me farther away from your best for me. Help me be totally faithful in following your direction, discovering deeper contentment as I practice giving myself entirely. Amen.

1 Samuel 15:22-25

But Samuel replied:

“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices

as much as in obeying the Lord?

To obey is better than sacrifice,

and to heed is better than the fat of rams.

For rebellion is like the sin of divination,

and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.

Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,

he has rejected you as king.”

Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned. I violated the Lord’s command and your instructions. I was afraid of the men and so I gave in to them. Now I beg you, forgive my sin and come back with me, so that I may worship the Lord.”

Could you use direction in aligning yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually with God's best for you?
