Balancing the Yoke

Father, teach me when to push myself and when to allow myself the grace of rest. There are times I find it difficult to discern which I need to do. Help me hear your voice and be sensitive to your Spirit’s leading and not fall to the dictation of emotions or outside voices. Don’t let me guilt myself into overextension or practice a false self-compassion by avoiding things I should be doing. Teach me how to exchange my self-imposed burdens for your light and easy yoke. Amen.

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
