Our Wise and Loving Lord, patience is not held in high regard in this consumer-driven, productivity-worshiping society. We want what we want now. Everything must be fast if not instant. This mentality bleeds into how we make important choices. Instead of working through challenging processes like repairing fractured relationships, unraveling unhealthy habits and patterns of thinking, or achieving long-term callings and goals, we are tempted to opt for short-term gratification instead. Father, build our courage to choose patience in the face of easy outs. May we be brave enough to wait on your wisdom before prematurely jumping into actions that will only compound our troubles. As you are so mercifully patient with us, may we practice patient obedience to you. Amen.
