Confessing Pride

Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.

Venerable King, I confess an ugly tendency to think of myself as better than others for certain abilities and qualities. My heart grows smug and pretentious. Father, not only is that delusional, it is sinful. The only worth I have comes from you. My value lies solely in your mercy and grace. Humble my heart, Lord, and put my standing into a right perspective. Help me focus less on myself and more on you so that I would not be so self-inflated. Forgive me, Lord, for not honoring the full pricelessness of the people around me. Train me in putting them before myself and living in proper deference to you and service to them. Amen.

Proverbs 18:12

Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.
