Forward in Forgiveness

Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.

Father, though I practice forgiveness toward those who have wronged me, I still find it difficult to bless them. Instead of reaching out in love, I avoid them. Instead of giving without expectation, I bristle when they don’t react to gestures how I think they should. Lord, help me see them with fresh eyes – the eyes of the Savior who died for them and me. Help me emulate the selfless generosity, compassion, and mercy of Jesus. Brush away all the cobwebs of grudges and past hurts from my heart and fill those spaces with your kind Spirit. Amen.

Luke 6:32-36

If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
