Good Father, humility, selflessness, and hard work do not come naturally to me. I am entrenched in habits that make myself the center of my universe and feed into my lusts for comfort, pleasure, and validation. I admit to you, Lord, my incapability of giving up these wants and tendencies under my own power. I can only be liberated from them by your divine grace and mercy. Holy Spirit, work your plan of redemption and sanctification in me that I would see everything as worthless in comparison to union with you. Replace my carnal wants with passion for your perfect will that my life would find true joy and fulfillment in your service. Amen.
