Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.

Holy God, through Jesus and the indwelling of your Holy Spirit, you make relationship with you possible without the necessity of rites, ceremonies, and rituals. That is an indescribably generous and precious gift. But I wonder if I have lost or failed to develop a sense of awe and reverence these gestures of respect encourage. Does my approach to you err on the side of casual instead of intimate? Help me, Lord, respect and laud you rightly. Teach me to practice everything toward you that you deserve.
Exodus 28:29-30
“Whenever Aaron enters the Holy Place, he will bear the names of the sons of Israel over his heart on the breastpiece of decision as a continuing memorial before the Lord. Also put the Urim and the Thummim in the breastpiece, so they may be over Aaron’s heart whenever he enters the presence of the Lord. Thus Aaron will always bear the means of making decisions for the Israelites over his heart before the Lord.
Balancing intimacy with and reverence for God is a difficult chore, especially in light of how freely the gift of salvation is offered to us. I appreciate you vocalizing this strain.
