Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.
Father, there’s a war raging within me today. I know I’m called to rejoice always and give thanks, but I’m not feeling very grateful. In fact, every urge I have is to complain, tear down, focus on the negatives, and get impatient. Even insignificant things seem to set me off. Lord, that is not the life abundant and free you call me to. I don’t want to be enslaved by this bad attitude. Father, please help me see irritations as opportunities for blessing and growth. Help me choose joy over impotent anger. Use my struggle to show others how you work for good in all circumstances. Amen.
Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
