Submitting My Plans

Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.

Lord, I find myself getting worked up over plans and contingencies for those plans and tensing with anxiety over all the what-ifs. But that is not living in the freedom you died to give me. That is my failure to trust and rest in you. Please forgive me, Father, for asserting my will and control over yours. Even if planning good things, they are meaningless unless born of love for you. Help me focus on your plan and humbly accept your desire for my here and now. Teach me patience as I wait for your direction and obedience in following the path you clear for me. There is no one more trustworthy with my future, and I submit it into your care today. Amen.

James 4:13-16

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil.
