Taking Sin Seriously

Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.

Lord, I confess my sins, when I recognize them, don’t grieve me as much as they should. I make excuses and try rationalizing them so I don’t have to take full responsibility. Lord, I know this is wrong and flies in the face of your dying on the cross for me. Please forgive my taking salvation for granted and help me see sin for what it is. Help me take it seriously so that I may live the abundant, Spirit-filled life you offer and serve you as you deserve to be served. Thank you, Father, for your grace and mercy. Amen.

Colossians 3:5-10

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
