Lord, despite all the pain and suffering in this world, there’s still a lot of whimsy and wonder. You never deny us joy even when we as humans make unbelievable messes of things. Without you we couldn’t laugh about happier times in the midst of grief. You show us the absurdity of our mistakes and walk us through them. You bless us with sunrise after darkest night. Thank you for the pleasure of your presence and the gifts of joy you offer us each day. Amen.

Then our mouths were filled with laughter and our tongues with joyful songs. Then the nations said, “The LORD has done spectacular things for them.” The LORD has done spectacular things for us. We are overjoyed.
