Turn My Eyes

Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.

Lord, teach us to respond to hardships selflessly. Open our eyes to the sacrifices and struggles of others that we would honor, support, and encourage them instead of seeking our own vain agendas. As troubles in this life increase, shift our perspective to that of Heaven. May we see disaster as opportunity to show love, practice compassion, and grow in holy endurance. Train us out of turning our concerns for self inward, which leads to burdens like worry and mistrust, but to channel our attention outward into service. May we think of ourselves less while putting our faith securely in you and turn our eyes as Jesus did to the needs of others. Amen.

2 Timothy 3:1-5

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God–having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
