Predatory Pets

Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.

Holy God, shake me from the habit of making pets out of sins. Instead of keeping my distance and warding off these pests, I’m tempted to feed them. I shelter them. I begin thinking that maybe they’re not so bad and start making excuses for them. But once one sin is welcomed, more follow. And they grow stronger. They become ever more demanding and destructive. They prey on the good things until the good stay away. Eventually, they overrun every aspect of life until eradicating them becomes a monumental task. Help me be resolute and vigilant in repelling these predatory sins from the start. Those I have been harboring, guide me in dealing with them according to your holy standard. Amen.

1 Corinthians 6:8-11

Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters. Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
