Thanksgiving in Grief

Take a moment to refresh, refocus, and refine your faith.

Father, as we enter a season of holiday celebrations, we remember those we have lost. This year swept a special grief over the face of the entire world. Lord, we uplift those whose hearts mourn the deceased and ailing. We ask your grace, peace, and comfort rest over those whose eyes are drawn to empty seats at their Thanksgiving and Christmas tables. Build community around them in support and to share joy in the midst of pain. Encourage them through remembrance of their blessings and your faithfulness. May this be a season of healing as we forge toward the New Year. Amen.

Colossians 3:15-17

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
